
Cheryl Heard is an Occupational Therapist with considerable clinical experience in several practice areas. She is a member, in good standing, of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) and of the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT). In 1997, after obtaining her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Health at Queen's University, Cheryl attended McMaster University to complete her Bachelor of Health Science degree in Occupational Therapy.
After graduation, Cheryl practiced in a psychiatric hospital setting for the first three years of her career working with persons with severe and persistent mental illness, focusing specifically in the areas of mood disorders and schizophrenia.
Six years ago, Cheryl decided to shift her focus to an in-home practice serving Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) clients. Since then, she has gained significant experience working with people with diverse physical, cognitive, neurological and behavioral concerns to maintain participation in their daily activities. As well, she is skilled in the areas of adaptive equipment and home and vehicle modifications. She is also a highly competent Ontario Assistive Devices Program (ADP) authorizer with considerable experience in the prescription of complex wheelchair and seating solutions. In 2008, Cheryl expanded her practice into the auto insurance sector as well. Cheryl lives in St. Thomas where she enjoys ball room dancing with her husband, and running, biking and swimming with her children.
