Derek Adam first obtained his Bachelor of Science Honors Kinesiology degree from The University of Western Ontario before completing the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program at McMaster University. He is a member in good standing of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO), the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT) and has been practicing Occupational Therapy in Ontario's Auto Insurance Industry since graduating in September 2007.

Derek's current practice includes working with individuals who have sustained soft tissue and orthopaedic injuries as well as those who have sustained traumatic brain injuries. During his time at McMaster University Derek took an interest in accessibility issues and was part of a pilot project which examined the accessibility of McMaster's campus to people with disabilities. This interest has carried on into his professional capacity and he hopes to become more involved in community accessibility initiatives as well as home and vehicle modification as he gains experience.

Prior to his work as an Occupational Therapist Derek was heavily involved in sport and served as a track and field coach with his high school as well as athletic trainer for the University of Western Ontario men's basketball team. Derek currently resides in the Waterloo region with his spouse and young daughter and enjoys fishing, camping, snowboarding, golfing and most of all, being a dad.
